Hi friends!
I’m so excited to reintroduce a special challenge I launched on my old website a few years back. Many of the people who tried it reported amazing results—not just emotionally, but energetically. And now, it’s time to bring it back… with a twist.
Welcome to The Kindness Challenge 2.0.
This updated version still centers around spreading kindness to others—but now, we’re adding an equally important piece: learning to show that same kindness to yourself.
What Is the Kindness Challenge?
It’s simple.
As you go about your day, look for an opportunity to uplift someone else.
Even better? Try it with a complete stranger.
Let it happen naturally.
Maybe it’s a kind word to the cashier ringing up your groceries.
A compliment to someone passing by at the park.
Or a moment of encouragement to a co-worker you don’t usually chat with.
If you’re naturally more reserved or not in the mood to talk, that’s totally fine. A thoughtful gesture works just as beautifully—like buying someone a coffee, holding a door, or even leaving a kind note anonymously.
This may sound small, but I promise: it’s a game changer.
When you start actively seeking ways to be kind, you become acutely aware of the power you hold to affect someone else’s day—and their perception of the world.
Think about the last time someone surprised you with a kind word or action.
That warm feeling? That tiny shift in your mood? You have the ability to spark that in someone else.
And over time, practicing that kind of influence builds a beautiful inner confidence.
Why This Works (And How It Echoes Steve Jobs)
This challenge always reminds me of a quote from Steve Jobs. He said that once you realize the world is built by people no smarter or better than you, you begin to see your power to change it.
That’s exactly what kindness reveals:
You are capable of creating a ripple effect.
Your small choices shape the energy around you—and influence the bigger picture more than you know.
And here’s the really cool part: it doesn’t just help others.
It rewires you.
Kindness Challenge 2.0: Being Kind to Yourself
Here’s where the “2.0” comes in.
Alongside spreading kindness to others, I want you to start offering the same encouragement to yourself.
Daily. Generously. Without hesitation.
Ask yourself:
What do I most need to hear right now?
Is it:
“You’ve got this. You’re doing amazing on that paper.”
“You are seriously crushing it at work.”
“That apple pie you just baked? ICONIC.”
Whatever it is, start saying it. Out loud. In your journal. In your head. Say it in the mirror if you have to.
Congratulate yourself on the smallest of wins.
Finished a task? Acknowledge it.
Did something hard? Celebrate it.
You’ll be amazed at the momentum that builds when you stop waiting for external validation and start providing your own.
Why This Combo Works
Kindness to others expands your presence in the world.
Kindness to yourself anchors you in your worth.
Together, they spark a shift in your mindset—a more empowered, motivated, and generous version of you begins to emerge. You move through your day differently. With purpose. With grace. With light.
Give It a Try
Try it for a day—or a week—and let me know what shifts you notice.
Comment below and share your experience. I’d love to hear the magic that unfolds when you decide to lead with kindness—both inward and outward.
You never know who you might inspire.
(And spoiler alert: it might just be yourself.)
